We have been retained by a leading residential and commercial lighting and electrical services company to assist in their search for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee our service and warehouse operations for their commercial lighting and electrical division. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient, effective, and profitable systems and processes throughout the company. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to implement process improvements.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the Operations Manager
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including inventory management, shipping and receiving, and logistics coordination.
- Manage project managers and service crews schedules to ensure timely and quality delivery of services to clients, maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.
- Develop, implement, and maintain operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and safety within the warehouse and field teams.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with other departments, including sales, customer service, and bookkeeping to ensure alignment and support for overall business objectives.
- Conduct regular training and development sessions for warehouse staff.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Manage budgets and control costs related to warehouse operations and service delivery.
- Lead recruitment efforts for warehouse staff and service teams, including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees.
- Prepare and present reports on operational performance to senior management.
Education/Experience
Requirements for the Operations Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse or operations management of 10 or more staff, with a focus on service delivery.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in warehouse operations
- Need to be able to work 70 – 80 hour weeks in crunch time, with very flexible schedule in off-season.
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to [insert weight]) as needed.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Forklift experience a plus.
