We have been retained by a Cleveland based company who designs and builds custom PLC control systems, to assist in their search for a Control Systems & Field Specialist to join their expanding team. This position is a vital, high-impact addition to their core team, created to increase bandwidth for future growth and serve as a direct talent duplicate and strategic backup to their lead specialist.
This is a consulting-minded, high-responsibility role requiring deep technical experience, business maturity, and exceptional attention to detail. As a Control Systems & Field Specialist, you will wear multiple hats—bridging CAD design, electrical/hydraulic engineering, rigorous testing, and direct customer relations. You will be instrumental in executing product startups on-site and delivering flawless solutions where zero-mistake execution is the standard.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer sites to lead and execute on-site commissioning, startups, and field adjustments for custom hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Build, test, and rigorously evaluate custom PLC control systems prior to deployment, ensuring zero-defect functionality.
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic/hydraulic issues in both workshop and field environments.
- Work alongside current lead personnel to duplicate key technical knowledge, providing strategic coverage and operational redundancy.
Education/Experience
- PLC Programming would be a plus.
- Strong understanding of integrated mechanical systems and pneumatics.
- Prior experience with mining equipment, heavy machinery, or industrial automation.
- A flawless work ethic characterized by extreme attention to detail and commitment to zero mistakes in critical engineering and field environments.
- Technical experience with various types of control systems and have the ability to interpret control system schematics.
- Hands-on experience performing startups, testing, and commissioning industrial hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Strong interpersonal communication and consulting capability to lead client interactions.
- Readiness to travel to customer sites for field startups and technical deployments.
