We have been retained to assist our client in their search for a Shop Services Manager will own the day-to-day operational heartbeat of our client’s Houston market—ensuring crews are equipped, scheduled, and supported to deliver high-quality electrical and landscape lighting service.
The role requires someone who thrives in fast-paced, hands-on environments and enjoys building order and consistency in the field. It offers a clear path to expand operational leadership—scaling systems, improving service delivery, and driving team performance in a growing market. Reporting to the head of Electrical Services, this role will be relied on to bring structure and accountability to shop operations, inventory systems, and service coordination while serving as a key support partner to field technicians.
This individual will work closely with field technicians, operations leadership, and scheduling/dispatch functions to ensure seamless execution from shop readiness to job completion. Success in this role comes from a combination of field experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage both systems and people in a dynamic service environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the Shop Services Manager
- Own day-to-day management of the shop, including organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness to support field teams.
- Establish and maintain systems for material tracking, inventory accuracy, and truck restocking to minimize downtime and inefficiencies.
- Oversee service calendars and technician assignments to ensure efficient routing, timely job completion, and optimal resource utilization.
- Act as a primary point of escalation and support for technicians in the field, helping troubleshoot issues and ensure quality execution.
- Implement and enforce processes and standards across shop operations, service workflows, and equipment management.
- Identify gaps in workflows and proactively drive improvements in efficiency, responsiveness, and overall customer experience.
Education/Experience
Requirements for the Shop Services Manager
- 3–7+ years in electrical, landscape lighting, or a similar field service business
- Coordinating field technicians, service crews, or shop operations
- Inventory management, material tracking, and maintaining truck stock.
- Scheduling, dispatching, or coordinating service calls and technician workflows.
- Familiarity with electrical/landscape lighting tools and equipment
- Consistently delivers on operational priorities with strong follow-through, ensuring shop operations, and scheduling run reliably day-to-day.
- Maintains structured systems for inventory, tools, and processes, enabling efficiency and reducing operational friction across the team.
- Effectively plans and coordinates resources, schedules, and technician workflows to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
- Manages multiple moving pieces across service operations, ensuring jobs are completed on time and aligned with quality expectations.
- Holds a high bar for workmanship, organization, and service delivery, reinforcing standards across shop and field operations.
- Effectively coordinates with technicians and leadership, ensuring clarity on priorities, expectations, and issue resolution.
